This is a new role within this large department reporting to the Program Manager and accountable to the Principal Project Manager within the relevant IT Portfolio delivery stream or Program for deliverables. The Integration Specialist is a technical expert responsible for the development, maintenance and ongoing evolution of the organisation's Integration platform, underpinning their Enterprise Integration Management agenda. The incumbent is responsible for developing the interfaces, running the integration platform, and assisting technical project teams in the adoption of best practice.

The Integration Specialist will analyse requirements, design, construct, configure, deploy and support application data integration using messaging (in particular HL7) and web services to provide access to patient data and clinical data for critical healthcare applications across the Health Service.

Key accountabilities:

  • Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with the department's core values.
  • Work in partnership with the business and vendors to understand business needs, gather data requirements, develop the of relevant interface system requirements specifications, and manage implementation.
  • Provide solution advice on projects, and assist the Solution Architect to develop and maintain the logical and physical data and models to ensure alignment to standards.
  • Participate in due diligence of new software purchases, to ensure alignment of data models.
  • Develop integration patterns to maximise reuse of messaging, data transformations, data sources and endpoints.
  • Perform detailed analysis of existing system interfaces and specifications as part of interface design formulation and support.
  • Review and update integration and interface solution designs and specifications based on implementation, testing and production changes.
  • Develop and review implementation plans, change requests, internal and external procurement orders, and other required documents in support of delivery and deployment of interfaces.
  • Provide guidance and assurance to ensure delivery of quality outcomes.
  • Understand and leverage the Enterprise Architecture principles adopted by the department.
  • Assist with the definition and maturity of Integration Governance and Data Quality programs.
  • Contribute to building the capability by mentoring, training and providing expert advice to other staff.
  • Provide support to other team members as needed and perform additional duties as determined by the manager.

Key skills required:

  • HL7: Health Level 7 Specifications
  • Enterprise Integration Platforms (such as eGate/JCAPS, Rhapsody)
  • Microsoft server and SQL, Citrix, VMware, Netware, Solaris, Oracle
  • Various desktop Integration tools, applications and utilities
  • Demonstrated experience with an Integration Specialist role
  • Previous Health Industry experience well regarded
